Biloela in Queensland is a small town with about 6,000 people residing here. The town has been dubbed a “great place to grow” and is primarily an agricultural town.
Tourism in Biloela is fast growing and the town has various sites and attractions. Many people visit to go fishing at the Callide Dam which also hosts the Callide Dam Fishing Competition every year. There are plenty of Yellowbelly, Barramundi, Catfish and Saratoga to be caught all year round.
Lake Callide also provides some excellent water skiing and jet skiing for thrill seekers of water sports. Around the lake are plenty of picnic and barbeque tables for you to enjoy your day.
Another attraction is the Kroombit Tops National Park which is superb with natural beauty. This National park features some splendid scenery and landscape. There are also campsites available if you decide to camp in the outback for the night. At Kroombit you can also see the resting place of the world war II Liberator Bomber dubbed “Beautiful Betsy”.
For History of the Biloela region visit the Spirit of the Mural on state farm road. This place will give you an insight of the women of the Banana Shire and displays the towns past till present.
Biloela is also not far from the gold mining town of Cracow. It makes a great day trip and is well worth seeing. When there why not treat yourself to a nice counter meal at the Cracow Hotel.
For the artistic and creative inspired, Biloela hosts the annual Brigalow Arts Festival. This festival sees professional and developing artists competing against other artists at various levels across central Queensland. The art festival has been running since the 1970’s and is very worthwhile seeing.
